There is nothing like the goodness and beauty of Punjabi suits. Punjabi suits were in fashion when I was in college and even before that. The attire is back in fashion after gorgeous Bollywood actresses have started to wear it again. Fuelled with inspiration, there is nothing that could now stop me from wearing these beauties. Also, the best part about the attire is that it embraces you as you are. You may not be the lady with the stunning figure yet the attire will look good on you and make you look like an epitome of grace.
So, I am all set to buy latest Punjabi suits again. It is not that I do not own any Punjabi suits. However, the new designs and fabric are attracting me and so I gave in my temptation and got myself a stunning Punjabi suit. Now when in Delhi, let us not forget that Lohri is the most vibrant festival and for this festival, I was invited to my friend’s place. Thus, I got the opportunity to flaunt my new outfit.
I got a bit greedy and bought myself 2 Punjabi suits, plus two for my little angels so that I could twin with them and one to gift my friend who had invited me to her party so that we could pose together with our newly bought suits also we have some wedding invites for this month so,we are really excited to flaunt this Indian outfit.
All about the Punjabi Suit:
This ethnic dress comes from Punjab and thus the name. It is an incredibly versatile outfit and can transform your look from traditional to modern with small changes. No wonder the Punjabi suits are liked as much as the Punjabi food. Here are some of the most popular Punjabi suits that are now a part of my closet also.
Punjabi suit with Palazzo- Palazzos are in trend and so wanted this badly. The Palazzo goes well with my drape saree, this kurti or a western top. And needless to say, it is the most worn dress from my wardrobe and trust me, each look is so different that even I am mesmerized by my different looks with the same attire.
Patiala salwar suit- This one has such a beautiful drape and even in the scorching Delhi heat, it is as comfortable as your pyjamas. Do not get deceived as it may be comfortable like pyjamas but high on style quotient too. You could wear it with a heavy kurti for a traditional look or with pair it with a boho t-shirt for the boho look. You could also team it up with tee and jacket for a casual outing. The options are limitless and the fabric from which it is made gives a beautiful fall and looks beautiful. These patialas have been modified to resemble the modern-day dhoti pants and are now a preferred outfit option for girls and boys alike. It is baggy yet elegant so the best of two worlds.
Frock style Punjabi suit- This is another versatile piece in my wardrobe. I wear it as a blouse with my saree and also as a one piece. The transformation that it offers suits the style needs of today’s women. When paired with a dhoti pant and dupatta, it looks the epitome of elegance.
Traditional jacket salwar suit- Jackets are and will always be in trend and are loved by people from all age groups. A traditional Punjabi suit with kurti and pant of any pattern like the Patiala, dhoti pant or the chudidar looks incredibly elegant. The jacket suits are mostly worn in Haryana and Punjab. The jackets are short in pattern with embroideries or Dori pattern and can be worn with denim also. The kurti that looks good with it is knee length kurti with quarter sleeves. The jackets at times are attached to the kurti and even this looks great.
The sharara suit- This truly is the dress to be worn to look like an Indian Princess. I particularly love the flare it gives me while also giving me freedom of movement, thanks to its pant-like design. Punjabi sharara with short kurta and heavy dupatta with heavy jewellery is something that would set you apart from the rest. In short, it is definately a must-have in your wardrobe.
These were my favourite collection of Punjabi suits that beautifully adorn the lady in me with elegance. With its versatility and comfortable designs, punjabi suits are everything you could ask for.
